Today we are celebrating #ScottishHousingDay 🏠🏡🏘🏠🏡🥳
This year, Scottish Housing Day is focussing on Homes for Life and encouraging landlords to think about how we can better support people in later life as needs and priorities change.
Our population is ageing faster in Scotland than in the rest of the UK, and as people grow older, their housing needs can change. This might require some simple adaptations to make homes more accessible, technology to support day-to-day activities, or planning to move to a more suitable home that’s closer to family or local amenities, or easier to manage.
Look out for more posts today as we celebrate #ScottishHousingDay and #HomesForLife ... See MoreSee Less

We are excited to announce that The Big Hoose Project has been selected as our charity of the year for 2024/25.
Fundraising activities are underway as we aim to raise as much money as possible. Our Charity Team was recently invited by the project’s CEO, Kirsty Thomson, to visit the central hub in Lochgelly, where they had the opportunity to meet the team and tour the warehouse.
As shown in the pictures, this is a big operation that continues to grow. We want to raise as much funding as possible so we can make a difference in the communities they are working with.
We will keep you up to date with our fundraising progress as the year unfolds. ... See MoreSee Less

If you are approaching pension age (currently 66) but live with a partner who will still be working age (18-65), your entitlement to housing benefit may end and you may need to claim universal credit to carry on getting help with your housing costs. Get advice in good time so you’re prepared – if you need to, the best time to claim to maximise your income is two weeks before your 66th birthday. The Big IDEA can advise on how the change will affect the money you have coming in and what you need to do.

Drop-in sessions September – Templehall and Kennoway to go = Financial and benefits advice‼️
Over the next six months, we will be trialling new drop-in sessions in Lochgelly, Templehall, Kennoway, and Buckhaven.
If this trial is successful, we will roll it out to other areas. However, everyone is welcome to attend these sessions, so feel free to come along, even if you don't live in one of these four areas.
The drop-ins will take place from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the same location each month.
This is your chance to meet our team, ask questions and find out what support is available, or just have a chat about whatever is on your mind.
Our first sessions will also offer free financial and benefits advice with one of our Income Maximisation Officers available to assist you in all things money-related.
So come along, meet our Income Maximisation Officers and see if you can save yourself some money! ... See MoreSee Less

RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP 🐶
Recently, there has been an increase in pet aggression towards our colleagues and some of our Housing Officers have been bitten by dogs.
The safety and wellbeing of our colleagues is our top priority, so we remind those with animals to practice responsible pet ownership.
If you own a dog, please temporarily shut it in a separate room or out in your garden while our colleagues are in your home. Never open your door to our colleagues if your dog is not secured away.
Even the most lovable dogs can be unpredictable and cause danger to someone they don't know coming into their home.
Pet aggression also includes barking and jumping at people. Therefore, it is better to separate your dog when one of our colleagues comes to your house. Thank you ☺️ ... See MoreSee Less

Garden Competition 2024 winners! 🌻
In first place, we have William from Rosyth. William is recently retired and has experienced some poor health since giving up work. His garden has become his focus, making him smile and encouraging him to get outside. With help from his granddaughter, William has created a sanctuary on his doorstep and all around his property, spending hours each day in his front and back gardens, looking after his plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables. He even has a hospital in his garden, where unwell or dying plants are given extra care and attention. His garden hosts an incredible array of handmade ornaments, each adding to the beauty of his unique space. Outside the gates of his gardens, William has an agreement with the council to keep the communal public pathway clear and tidy. He has even added some palm trees, flowers, stepping stones and fairy lights to benefit the community. Our overall winner award this year goes to a very deserving man who has dedicated his retirement and rehabilitation from ill health to his garden. Well done, William! ... See MoreSee Less
