Did you know that some urgent repairs to your home are covered by a legal Right to Repair?
Under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, Scottish secure and short Scottish secure tenants have the right to have certain small, urgent repairs carried out within set timescales.
The scheme covers specific qualifying repairs costing up to £350. These include things like:
The time allowed depends on the type of repair and these timescales are set by law.
When you report a repair, we’ll let you know if it qualifies under the Right to Repair scheme and the timescale for completing it.
If a qualifying repair is not completed within the required timescale, you may have the right to ask another contractor from our approved list to carry out the work. You may also be entitled to compensation.
It’s important that you give us access at the agreed time. If our contractor cannot access your home, the Right to Repair process for that repair will be cancelled and will need to start again.
For more information about Right to Repair, qualifying repairs and response times, please read our Repairs and Maintenance Policy.
You can also find more information about your rights on the Government website.
