Construction gets underway at Crombie as £2.7million housing project moves a step closer

16 August 2017

Following the success of Phase 1, we are delighted to confirm that construction at Phase 2 of our building project in Crombie is now underway.

The venture, which has been jointly funded by Fife Housing Group, the Scottish Government and Fife Council, will see an investment of £2.7million to develop 19 new two and three bedroom homes, with completion expected early next year.

Fife Housing Group colleagues were recently joined by representatives from primary contractor, Esh Border Construction, at a symbolic sod cutting ceremony to celebrate construction beginning at the site.

Director of Property and Commercial Business at Fife Housing Group, Kevin Lynch, said:

‘Having worked closely with the Scottish Government and Fife Council during the development of this project, we are delighted to now come together with ESH Border Construction to mark the beginning of construction on site and take the next steps towards delivering much needed affordable family homes in this popular village.’

The award of this building contract comes after Livingston based Esh Border Construction built on their reputation as a high quality Scottish social housing developer with a raft of new framework partnerships, the collective value of which could mean over £100m to the construction specialist across the next few years.

Regional Managing Director of Esh Border Construction, Simon Phillips said:

‘We are extremely excited to be involved in the Crombie village project. Esh Border Construction secured the work for this site through a competitive tender process open to the entire market and we are very proud that Fife Housing Group recognised our growing reputation as a key developer in the social housing marketplace.

‘The sod cutting ceremony marks the first stage in bringing this vital project, which will bring much needed social housing to the people of Fife, to life.’
