Fife Housing Group celebrated Scottish Housing Day at its Annual General Meeting (AGM), highlighting some of the work taking place across the organisation to help provide the foundations for tenants and communities to thrive.
This year’s Scottish Housing Day theme, Healthy Homes, Healthy Futures, focuses on the important role housing plays in supporting both physical health and mental wellbeing and how the benefits of a good home extend far beyond bricks and mortar.
Bringing together tenants, Board Members and colleagues, the AGM showcased some of the projects and services helping tenants to live well in their homes and communities by providing the social structures needed to keep people active, safe and living independently.
Asset Manager, Owen Munro, provided an update on Fife Housing Group’s programme of improvements to its British Iron and Steel Federation (BISF) homes. The ongoing investment of over £1.5 million in these properties is helping to make them warmer, more energy efficient and more comfortable for the tenants living in them.
Income Maximisation Officer, Carolyn McAllister, shared case studies demonstrating the positive impact financial support and guidance can have on tenants’ health and wellbeing, while Tenancy Support Officer, Amy Turnbull, talked about how her work is helping people sustain their tenancies and feel more secure in their homes.
Communications and Engagement Manager, Karen Begg, also highlighted the importance of connection and community, sharing some of the tenant and community events, workshops and engagement activities which provide opportunities for people to get involved, meet others and access additional support.
Nicki Donaldson, Chief Executive at Fife Housing Group, said, “This year’s Scottish Housing Day theme is a great reminder that a healthy home is about much more than the building itself. Our AGM gave us the opportunity to shine a light on a few examples of the work taking place now but colleagues across the organisation play a part in helping our tenants feel safe, secure and supported in their homes and communities every day.”
